My favorite Clapton guitar piece.....
check out his Behind the Sun album. the studio version jams.
Now I wouldn't do this for just anyone. Putting someone else's video on the same page with Clapton is normally sacrilege. But I put Lee in my top five just for sheer speed. Ever hear his I'm Goin' Home? Click on the menu and check out his Woodstock version. This guy may hit a few off notes but he can make a guitar smoke. And The Bluest Blues is the next best thing to Clapton's Same Old Blues. Enjoy.
Having said all that, I always thought Clapton could make a guitar wail but Santana could make a guitar scream. I love Santana's style and the latin music and so for those reasons I rate him ever so slightly better than Clapton. This one is a keeper.....both together.
ok. might as well round out the top 5 here. Actually Jesse Johnson from Prince's group and the Time is in it but he's in one of my other blogs. Jeff Beck would make it. Clapton, Santana, Jeff Beck, Jesse Johnson and Alvin Lee. yep. so here's Beck. the pic's not totally clear but I love this song...Dirty Mind.
Ok. so I can't leave out Ernie Isley. if for no other reason than his play on Who's That Lady. man, it's one of my favorite guitar pieces. guess he'd come in at number 6 overall on my list. here's a live version.....watch partway on how he plays with his teeth, a la Hendrix. -s-
