"erm....never mind."

Here's one from a few years back when I first moved out here.

I live in a complex of twelve buildings.  Each two stories.  You enter your apartment from the outside and I live on the upper level near the stairway.

I've gotten good at telling who's coming up the stairs.  Or rather, how many and how fast.  Not that I care but.......see, there's a bolt loose on the stairs and they sorta rattle when someone goes up or down.  So depending on the loudness and length of the rattles......

One night I'm sitting in the living room and I hear the stairs goin' clangclangclangCLANGCLANGCLANG...!  I'm thinking damn, there's a bunch of people running up the stairs.  So I get up and walk towards the door as I'm listening to all the footsteps come tramptramptramping right up to my front door.  And stop.   

Just as I go to press my ear to the door someone BANGBANGBANGS on it.  "Roberto Ramirez! This is the police!  Come out!"

"Uhh.....there's no Roberto Ramirez here, dude"  I hear myself say.

"Roberto Ramirez!  This is C224 and you are Roberto Ramirez!  This is the police....come out NOW!!"

"Ummm....this is AAAY224 man.  You're on the wrong side of the COMplex!"  *stifles laugh....*

Then I hear a lot of "pss pssss psss psstt pss pssss..."  and "....see, I TOLD you we were at the wrong place!"

I kid you not.   Too funny.

And then...."....take your men and meet me on the other side of the tennis courts."   And finally  (to my door)  ".....hey, thanks anyway, ok?"

lmfao.

Jeez.   I'm just glad they didn't shoot first or just break on in......I hate lawsuits.
